The fall brings forward rapid transition, whether it's changing temperatures or life-threatening weather events. Moments change with absolutely no notice. Tensions inside us rise swiftly turning transitions into large whitewater rapids instead of calming lakes.
No matter how tied up you look on the outside, how you choose to respond instead of react says everything.
As the tensions mount and rapids become more difficult to navigate, does the tension:
- boil over with anger spewing words at loved ones that we cannot take back; damaging a decades long relationship
- make us stop and avoid what’s going on only for things to get worse; that health ailment that goes unchecked and now causes a hospital visit for thousands of dollars with no vacation time.
- create a downward spiral of what else can go wrong next; seemingly what bad thing after another hit.
Or, best yet….
This tension becomes a rubber band, pull it farther enough back and it will shoot in the opposite direction. There in lies, what direction is the potential energy going?
The funny part is the tension is almost never with another person. It's the relationship you have with yourself. This is what makes personal leadership truly important.
Whether it's a hurricane, flash floods, or a forest fire, our lives can change in an instant. The faster you accept the situation, the quicker you can adapt and find new possibilities and a path forward, and the faster you get to relax again.
Resolve the relationship with yourself and watch new possibilities show up in fun, exciting ways. The pathway of possibilities is endless. Let those hard, difficult times inform new and inspiring ideas.
Wishing you a wonderful, joyful and prosperous day!
