A cup of coffee ever caught you drooling? The slow roasted beans, rich in flavor slowly percolating into glass beaker. Poured into a mug, topped with a pinch of cinnamon and frothy foam that tantalizes your taste buds alive.
Nature evolves slowly.
Cicadas spend much of their lives developing underground. When they emerge, sometimes years and decade’s later, they attach to a stable surface and shed their exoskeleton. The slow percolation. Their new adult body must expand and harden before then can fly.
We often spend decades learning new knowledge. How many years did you go to school? Plus a masters or even PhD? Yikes! Applying the knowledge is a whole different story. The percolation effect.
Something we learned 20 years ago is now outdated. Techniques no longer apply. Knowing how to make your own mixed tape is a faint memory and skill in today’s age of AI and tech. The percolation versus the applicability of it.
Our own internal development eventually makes an old way of operating unsuitable. The way you communicate. The way you approach a new opportunity. As new knowledge, skills, and techniques fill our mind and body containers; what once contained your growth may no longer accommodate it.
When you’re neurodivergent, you love novelty. It’s fun and exciting. The question is how is this novelty percolating into how you operate?
- You understand your cognitive capacity yet accept workloads that exceed it.
- You recognize your natural communication style yet hold back and mask it.
- You know which conditions support your best thinking yet you organize your day around conditions that undermine it.
This week, check your emotional honesty. What are you denying that’s ready to be implemented?
Don’t let that delicious cup of coffee go cold.
Don’t stay underground or isolated forever as your brilliance will never be seen.
Don’t let the new wisdom never go into a conversation.
Don’t let the lessons learned never be implemented.
Your internal change only becomes meaningful when it changes your lived experience. That’s presence.
Let your internal understanding reflect your external expression. That’s applied discernment in real-time.
Wishing you a wonderful, joyful, and prosperous day!
