Impossible

Have you ever bumped up against someone that said, no, that’s not possible? Then, you see.

As a sheltered, introverted, and withdrawn kid, sports was something “other kids” did. The closest I came was getting hockey skates to take ice skating lessons since I loved to watch ice hockey.

Fast forward 15 years, and suddenly I became deeply involved in a rock climbing community that was tight-knit and did things I never even knew existed. Every winter a group of men invited me to go ice climbing over a long weekend.  Yes, climb frozen waterfalls in the freezing, bone-chilling cold of New England.

Sounds like fun, right? Let’s go get frostbite and lose some fingers and toes.

After 5 years of them asking, I caved. Simply said, why not? I’ll attempt any sport once.

After a long 8-hour drive to upstate New York, I was ready for my first-ever ice climbing class. Outdoor gear was important yet I only had bulky ski gear. As the group learned to put on crampons (those spiky things on your feet) in the parking lot we hiked into the forest to start practicing ice climbing and the proper technique.

I walked about 100 feet then caught the crampons on the bulky ski pants I was wearing and landed face-first in the snow. Eeeks! I simply started laughing at myself. That’s not how I wanted to start the day.

As the instructor gave us tips, my turn arrived. I swung my ice tools into the ice and kicked my crampons in. Wow! That wasn’t that hard. I kept repeating the move.

Secretly the inside of me was glowing with glee. Despite the cold, I was having fun with doing something new and different. That day, I declared myself a “Badass Woman”

It's one thing, the courage to do something so different that it seemed impossible.

How can you get excited and enthusiastic about something that you’ve never done before? It's time to explore the power of possibilities. This brings out your creative, playful spirit and childlike wonder.  What would you love to see happen even though it seems out of reach, right now?

It's time for a makeover. It's time for an upgrade in your life. You’ve evolved this far, how much further can you go?

A simple belief in yourself is all you need.
