Everything Urgent?

Ever feel that there’s always a fire around every corner? This leaves you feeling on edge, waiting for the next shoe to drop around the corner. You become depleted, exhausted, and drained.

On the flip side, you may rush to quickly to put an idea to work.

What if you do not have to live in a constant state of urgency?

When you travel across oceans and continents, travel may take up to 24 hours.

Six hours from Washington DC to Los Angeles, plus three hours of drive time and security lines. Then, a three-hour layover at LAX, then a fourteen hour flight to Sydney. Who knew you can watch six movies back-to-back and forget what time zone you’re in.  You’re anxious to get there and explore yet walking up and down the aisle is you’re only source of amusement watching drool out of the open mouth of someone who feel asleep while others awkwardly leaned against a stranger.

The plane arrives on the tarmac of Sydney Australia international airport at 8am. You may cross thousands of miles and earned your first free flight yet your internal clock takes a bit longer to register.

Your body on the other hand has barely slept in 24 hours and the sunrise depicts it’s a full day ahead. Suddenly you’re the energizer bunny.

This is where, especially for neurodivergent leaders, you can sense a significant internal shift faster than most. Yet, it takes a time for the rest of life to organize around it.

Often, we are urgent to make sense of everything, an idea, a change in someone’s voice tone, a relationship gone wonky and automatically make assumptions on what’s wrong and how to fix it.

We can be irritated or even disappointed that projects or a desired outcomes is not moving fast enough. This is where everything in life and business is not always urgent.

Sometimes it’s simply about staying in observation mode then notice what shows up next.

It’s vitally important to realize clarity often arrives before the integration does. Not every insight demands action. Allow your systems to catch up before your next move. After a major turning point, allow for integration period.

Where are you rushing forward? Maybe you’re not behind at all. You’re patiently allowing all your pieces to come together in a coherent structure.

Instead of urgency, Commit to coherence.

This week, ASK:

Where is urgency taking over?

What insights requires a structure to contain first?

Wishing you a wonderful, joyful, and prosperous day!
