As we celebrate summertime -- cue the Will Smith song - Summer, Summer, Summer time... -- the sun bathes us in warm rays, bright colors, and illuminates everything. Even the fireflies twinkle brightly as the sun sets.
The sun has its special way of showcasing what has been here all along.
Throughout the spring, ideas percolate. When we are expounded in waves of insights and revelations, and sometimes the deeper mysteries of the world.
Our excitement for novelty can get the best of us. Yet, we cannot focus on everything. That simply leads to burnout and exhaustion. Who wants that? No one.
Neurodivergents tend to confuse emotional intensity with certainty and direction. This is where the importance of understanding is, once the excitement calms in the hours or days afterwards. Does direction still apply? Decisions only come when we move through all the waves of emotion.
Allow this summer solstice to expand what nourishes you. Do your relationships equally give what you pour into them? What communities create a sense of belonging?
The biggest item to remember is that if you don't have this in your life, it’s time to nourish yourself. We nourish ourselves first, not last. No, that's not selfish. We can only pour from a full cup. Otherwise, exhaustion develops.
May the fiery sun rays dissolve everything that no longer serves you.
What truth emerges once everything else is burned off? This was always inside you and is ready to be carried forward.
This is what you protect and focus on. Shining light on what is already true.
