Ever dig deep down and find the truth you didn't even know you were looking for?
The country of Turkey had been calling my name for years. The opportunity came forward after I cut loose from a job. Ironically, I knew little of Turkey's rich history. As I made my way counterclockwise around the country, a stop in Troy became a must. Except for a book I read in high school, I knew little of what I was about to see.
I knew nothing about archeology and excavation. The fascination of what was excavated astounded me. Eyes wide open, ears peaked to hear every word through the strong accent.
With simple soft brushes, each clue appears. A solid piece of material extends longer and longer, and a wall is revealed. Then, multiple walls connected create a pattern and reveal a larger structure.
What started off as looking for a buried city turned into layer upon layer of revelation. A small mound uncovered a city built on top of a city, built on top of another. Five cities in total!
Can you imagine what was only a mound had several cities buried underneath?
Let's apply this to you.
Truth is an excavation process. What surfaces first is rarely the whole story. Perhaps you receive an intuition hit, a deja vu moment, or an a-ha moment that brings a new idea forward. It's a bread crumb that leads to something bigger.
As we excavate each new layer of what's to come, a deeper story is revealed. As these truths rise, we confront aspects of ourselves and others that may greatly shift us. These truths may be deeper patterns that are underneath. Patterns of abuse, bad self-talk, and always criticizing others because you rarely look at your own faults.
These confrontations of truth are difficult. Some exciting, some horrific. It’s up to us to sift through the details and purify the core truth as each layer gets excavated.
From here, we use precision to have the courageous conversations that change the deep underlying pattern.
The truth will set you free.
What pattern are you ready to confront?
