On a gorgeous spring day, Jill and John headed to a trail to hike up one of their favorite mountains. The cool air gave way to sun rays tickling their skin with delight. Flowing water bounced off the trail as the snow melted quickly. A beautiful day taking in fresh pine trees until…
An abrupt stop. Eyes wide open in amazement at what was before them.
Hundreds of trees covered the entire path. John arched his head and looked to the right, an avalanche had occurred bringing down an entire mountainside of trees, rock, and dirt.
The smell of fresh-cut wood and pine trees heightened their senses wondering how long ago this occurred. The ripeness brought forth curiosity and wonder of nature’s fury.
Then, the question. With no obvious trail markers would they continue on or not? Jill and John knew the mountain well and with no storms in sight decided to figure out a way.
With Jill’s keen insights, she gently maneuvered under trees and over others. Each step is a cautionary tale, knowing that the unsettled debris field can move at any time. Jill moved some debris out of the way and almost lost a leg in a steep hole between trees. Carefully walking on unstable streets she wondered if she was learning how to walk a tightrope. With each step, Jill simply paused felt what was stable and grounded, and moved through it.
Jill looked back and John, laughing, saying we didn’t know we were in for a different type of workout today. John smiled in delight.
Where in life do you simply require a different approach and perspective on how to move forward?
Instead of letting a debris field get in their way, John and Jill simply sought different perspectives on how to move without getting angry, upset, frustrated, or even ticked off.
What’s possible when you impart a new perspective?
