The Dark Waters

Hovering at the surface and deep within the oceans lie microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates. During daylight hours, your eyes will never see these tiny little organisms.  We often forget we are surrounded by many things that we do not readily see yet drastically affect our environment.

The spectrum of actual visual light is rather small. Humans cannot see infrared light or ultraviolet light. Again, just because we cannot see them does not mean they do not exist.

As we move and go about our day, we feel these little nuances. The sun (ultraviolet rays) is too much, we put on sunglasses. When we get that eerie, spooky feeling walking into a new place, we immediately leave.  We eat a piece of food that has an odd taste, we’re suddenly sick the next day with food poisoning. We realize we didn’t listen to our inner sensation not to eat another piece.

Our environment plays a key role in what we experience everyday. A messy office makes us distracted. A colleague emotionally vomiting about their ex-partner being a pain disrupts your flow.

Does your environment cultivate inner peace? To know where we belong is to know and understand what feelings, emotions, and sensations arise in us when we are there.

The dinoflagellates at night illuminate a vibrant blue hue. This phenomenon is called bioluminescence. This color serves as a protection for intruders to stay away. As humans, we can delight in kayaking in the sea waters watching the water light up in blue waves as we paddle through or watch the wave wash on the shore.
Protecting your own peace takes work. Recognizing the signs and sensations that show up is vital. Only from the heighten awareness can we move into “direct knowing” of what steps are next on our courageous path forward.

When we protect and prioritize our own peace, we interrupt the patterns that bring us astray from our true calling and path.

How can you cultivate inner peace this week?
